BPVA delivering the latest information on the global solar Photovoltaic opportunities covering Country Information, Opportunities, Projects, Policy, Reports and more.
In the past decade, solar photovoltaic (PV) technology has emerged as a versatile and commercially viable form of clean power generation, in a growing number of countries. More and more countries are looking to meet rising electricity demand with indigenous forms of clean power generation and increase their energy security by reducing their reliance on fossil fuel.
Solar PV deployment has grown even during the economic downturn, driven by Governments awareness of advantages of solar energy, commitment to tackling global warming and climate change. Continuous technological advancements, which have helped reduce the cost of solar modules and other components has helped to make solar PV an affordable form of energy source.
Since 2010 the UK has become a major player due to a stable and predictable rate of return, a robust legal framework and creative financial solutions offered by developers and investors. The growth of the UK solar industry has resulted in creating some 5,000 plus companies in the entire value chain.
Through BPVA Global we are assisting our members to enter new markets making the UK solar industry a champion in the global stage.
As subsidies continue to be phased out in the UK, as part of a wider trend happening throughout much of Europe, the UK solar industry must look further afield into the new and emerging markets. To support the industry and our members, we have launched “BPVA Global”.
Through our strong political network in the global stage, we are working with policy makers around the world to create opportunities for the UK solar industry. To date our efforts has resulted in working in 22 countries creating a pipeline of over 15 GW of projects.
The UK solar industry is well positioned to offer project development expertise, engineering, design, EPC, innovative financial solutions, policy framework and legal advice and work with local agencies and partners in many of these markets, which have comparatively limited experience in deploying the technology.
